Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan | Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel

Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan | Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel

Our dark wheat beer is impressive with its creamy white foam. The beer features a fruity-fresh sweetness and hints of mature banana, which harmonize with delicious flavors of roasted malt. Hefeweissbier Dunkel is sparkling and full-bodied with a light caramel taste on the first sip, and is an excellent accompaniment to hearty meals and game, as well as chocolate and nut desserts. This beer is brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill. (Source: Loosely translated from the brewery's website.)

  • Beer: Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel
  • Style: Hefeweissbier Dunkel (10b. Dunkles Weissbier)
  • ABV: 5.3%
  • IBU: 14
  • Brewery:
  • Look: copper color, semi-turbid, with a great formation of a creamy and lasting beige head that leaves marks on the glass;
  • Aroma: banana notes are really present, almost with a dried fruit character, along with a light presence of clove notes
  • Taste: banana notes are present, also with an almost dried fruit character, along with caramel notes. In a lower level, clove notes are also present;
  • Mouthfeel: medium-light body, medium-high carbonation, dry and short finish;
  • Overall: a good beer, but not one of the best Weihenstephaner beers that I drank. Looking forward for drinking it fresh someday.
