Cervejaria 2 Cabeças + Suricato Ales | Beach Please!

A Sour IPA with papaya? Yes! Don't forget the sunscreen, the farofa 1, the beach umbrella and the frescobol 2, because the summer already started. If you want to go to the beach, you already know it: Beach Please! (Source: Loosely translated from the beer's label.)

  • Beer: Beach Please!
  • Style: Sour IPA (34B. Mixed-Style Beer - 21A. American IPA + 28A. Brett Beer - 29A. Fruit Beer with papaya fermented 100% with brettanomyces)
  • ABV: 5.8%
  • IBU: 22
  • Breweries:
  • Look: yellow color, clear, with low formation of a white head.
  • Aroma: a low fruit peel-like aroma is present at first. Light, grainy, sweet malt notes are present as well, as well as a light acidic hint.
  • Taste: the taste follows the aroma closely. At first, a mix of green fruit-like notes mixed with low fruit peel-like notes and a dab of acid notes can be perceived. As the acidity goes away, a low-to-medium bitterness appears, as well as very light herbal notes. After the hop notes go away, a very light, papaya-like fruitiness appears.
  • Mouthfeel: medium body, medium-high carbonation and a dry and short finish.
  • Overall: Interesting beer. Personally, a pleasant mix of bitter and sour notes is quite hard to achieve. This beer is one of the most pleasant beers with this setup that I tried.

  1. Manioc flour toasted in butter or olive oil.

  2. Beach sport that is played with two (usually) wood racquets and a hollow rubber ball. It isn't a competitive sport, but a cooperative one, where the goal is to keep the ball on play.
